The Swiss champions in the two-wheeler professions were crowned for the fourth time at SwissSkills in Bern from 17 to 21 September 2025. The 18-year-old Lorin Engeli from Randenbike in Beringen came out on top in the bicycle mechanics category. He mastered the eight tasks best in a high-level competition.
Under the leadership of the industry association 2rad Schweiz and supported by Velosuisse, eight ambitious young bicycle mechanics competed in two days of challenging practical work. «The tasks were really difficult, because we want to crystallise the best in their field,» commented Roland Fischer, vocational training chairman of 2Rad Schweiz and chief expert at Swiss Skills. This required a systematic approach, a lot of perseverance and concentration. Apprentices from all over Switzerland in their 3rd year of training were able to take part.
2rad Schweiz and Velosuisse are very satisfied with the fourth edition of the Swiss Championships. The interest shown by visitors was overwhelming. 1,021 young professionals competed for gold, silver and bronze in 92 Swiss Championships. Around 120,000 visitors, including over 65,000 schoolchildren, immersed themselves in the variety of over 150 professions on the BERNEXPO site. Over the weekend, many young people and their parents took the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the profession of EFZ bicycle mechanic. This gave the general public an insight into the bicycle workshop and today's requirements. SwissSkills 2025 reached its brilliant climax with the grand award ceremony in the PostFinance Arena on Saturday evening. As a meeting place for education, business and society, Swiss Skills offers a unique platform for the whole of Switzerland.
