Velosuisse

Leading the way for future mobility

Velosuisse - fact-based and politically neutral for safe and prosperous Swiss bicycle and e-bike traffic on and off the road.

Velosuisse was founded in 2005 and represents the most important manufacturers, importers, wholesalers and agencies in the bicycle industry based in Switzerland. On January 1, 2005, the bicycle and motorcycle industries went their separate ways, having previously been organized in one association for decades, but having maintained their own groups ("Bicycle", "Motorcycle") since 1995. After the separation, the Association of Swiss Manufacturers, Wholesalers and Importers of the Two-Wheeler Industry VFGI became Velosuisse and Motosuisse.

Velosuisse acts as a national and international lobby and is a competent, politically neutral and pragmatic contact for specialist trade partners, politicians, authorities, media, research and educational institutions and other industry organisations when it comes to questions about bicycles, e-bikes and their components and accessories.

Velosuisse periodically surveys Swiss bicycle and e-bike sales figures. At the economic, political and social level, Velosuisse is committed to safe and prosperous bicycle traffic. In this capacity, Velosuisse members are present at selected Swiss cycling events and ensure the transfer of knowledge to the specialist trade with the InfoTech training platform. Velosuisse is also a member of various organisations that promote cycling.

The founding president of Velosuisse was Gallus Komenda (Komenda AG, St. Gallen). The first board of directors consisted of Chris Bättig (Chris Sports Systems, Tägerwilen), Thommy May (Fuchs- Movesa AG, Gipf-Oberfrick), Thierry Bolle (Scott Sports Group Switzerland, Givisiez), Tom Brown (Trek-Villiger, Dübendorf), Hans Meyer (Tour de Suisse Rad AG, Kreuzlingen), Andy Kessler (BMC Trading AG, Grenchen) and Thomas Campana (Swissbike Vertriebs AG, Beckenried). The managing director was the lawyer Dr. Andreas Gubler, Berne, where the office was also relocated. From 2008, Gubler also took over the presidency. Since then, the lawyer Dr. Marcel Boller, Zurich, as president and the federally certified master rider and motorcycle mechanic Martin Platter, Uerzlikon, as managing director together with the board of directors have been in charge of Velosuisse. The registered office was moved to Aarau on 1 January 2020.
