This is how the bicycle factory in Hard on Lake Constance, a stone's throw away from neighbouring Switzerland, has been producing customised bikes in craftsmanship - every day - for 60 years. In 1961, the Simplon brand name laid the foundation stone and alluded to a quality that is tantamount to "Made in Switzerland", using Swiss components wherever possible even then.
The family takes its name from the alpine pass in Valais, which it has often climbed itself on a racing bike. At the end of the 1970s Simplon began building his first own racing bikes. Over the years, the company developed steadily and in 1988 the first mountain bike models were added to the product range. The main focus is always on quality from Vorarlberg and an optimum of technical feasibility.
These principles and values will continue to be fostered under the leadership of Stefan Vollbach, who will join the Executive Board in 2015. Always true to the motto of the founding Hämmerle family, individual premium bikes are built every day.
