Swiss bicycle and e-bike sales statistics

Velosuisse has been collecting data from its members on bicycles delivered to retailers in various categories since 2002. Since 2020, these figures have been harmonised with the import statistics of the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security in order to provide an even more precise picture of the overall market. The statistical data may be used, quoted and redistributed free of charge for media editorial, scientific and educational purposes, provided the author is acknowledged (©Velosuisse).

Cycle Week 2027 auch in Lausanne

Cycle Week 2027 will also take place in Lausanne

Cycle Week is expanding into French-speaking Switzerland in 2027: following six successful editions in Zurich, Switzerland’s leading national cycling festival will take place in Lausanne for the first time from 11 to 13 June 2027. Thereafter, Cycle Week will be held annually in both Zurich and Lausanne. Long-term partnerships have been established with both cities.

Thursday 28 May sees the start of Cycle Week in Zurich, the largest national cycling festival. In the run-up to the event, the Swiss Cycling and E-Bike Office spoke to traffic psychologist Dr Wernher Brucks, Head of Road Safety at the City of Zurich, about cycling safety in Switzerland's largest city, helmet wearing, fines for cyclists, distracted driving and the construction of cycle paths - with some surprising answers.

The merger of the two European industry associations Conebi (components and add-on parts) and CIE (complete bikes) to form the new industry giant EIC (European Cycling Industries) in 2025 marks the ideal time for Velosuisse to join at European level. The association of Swiss bicycle suppliers and service providers has been committed to the mobility of the future and cycling for over 20 years. Now comes the logical step towards joining the European umbrella organisation.

There is a lot going on in parliament at the moment with regard to the Bikelash and new harassment of cyclists. Velosuisse is therefore supporting ProVelo's appeal to Parliament and the Federal Council. The aim is to collect as many signatures as possible by World Bicycle Day on 3 June 2026.
